Based in the Washington DC Metropolitan area MUSIC TOTS will provide your child aged 0 to 5 years with a fun and educational approach to learning about music through age appropriate classes.

A free trial music class is available for new children and there are no additional registration fees.

Developed by Karen Dickinson MA LTCL, a specialist in early childhood music education, the curriculum enhances and supports learning in the following areas, building foundations that last a lifetime:

We're looking forward to the warmer weather here at Music Tots when the birds return from their winter travels. When they do, we'll be "flying and gliding" as we identify everyday sounds, and singing lots of other songs with birds as the theme. Your child will learn how to tap the rhythms of four of our feathered friends and notate the sound of the "cuckoo". Listening activities will also involve music with birds as a theme from all over the world. In the second half of the semester we travel to the ocean to sing about the sea and meet some of the creatures who live there. Your child will "row a boat", (but watch out for that sneaky crocodile!) and we'll see how good we are at stopping during our sailing song. We'll have fun stomping together to music from a Maori gathering and travel to Bolivia to hear the pan pipes.

Your child will learn such a lot in through the medium of song especially when those songs are accompanied by actions. They will name familiar objects around the room, name body parts and also incorporate names of actions: we move "faster" and "slower", stretch "higher" and "lower" and respond to instructions such as "stop" and "go". Some of the songs will be traditional favorites which some of the children will already be familiar with. Other songs are those especially composed for the classes by the Founder and Director of Music Tots, Karen Dickinson.
